DIABETIC MASTOPATHY


MORPHOLOGY

• Dense, keloid-like fibrosis with epithelioid myofibroblasts in stroma

• Periductal, perivascular, and perilobular lymphocytic infiltrates containing

predominantly B-cells


OTHER HIGH YIELD POINTS

• Fibroinflammatory breast lesion, which presents as a dense breast mass and is often bilateral

• Characteristically presents in premenopausal women with long-standing type 1 diabetes mellitus and can be recurrent

• It can be seen with other autoimmune disorders (Grave’s, Hashimoto, Pernicious anemia, SLE, RA, etc.) and in men

• IHC: CD20 (+) B-Cells
